Manchester United could look past Mason Mount this summer and comments from Moises Caicedo suggest he would be open to an Old Trafford move.
United have been pursuing Mount for several weeks and have seen three bids - the latest of which was worth up to £55million - rejected by Chelsea. Those in charge at Stamford Bridge are holding out for £65million, despite the midfielder entering the final 12 months of his contract.
United are willing to move on from Mount should talks show no signs of progessing, with Erik ten Hag keen to resolve his midfield issues quickly and focus on other problem areas. A shortlist of alternative targets has already been compiled, with Brighton's Caicedo of interest.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding season at Brighton, helping them qualify for European football for the first time. Such form has attracted interest from several top sides, but United could have the upper hand if they decide to make a move.

“My dream is to play for Manchester United," Caicedo said in 2020. "Antonio Valencia is an example to follow. With his strength and dedication, he was able to get to that level. That motivates me to keep working hard and do the right things.”
Brighton have proved tough negotiators over the years but are expecting Caicedo to leave the AMEX this summer. The Seagulls rejected a £70million from Arsenal in January for their midfielder but would be more open to selling this summer, with more time to find a replacement.
Speaking after Brighton's final game of the season, manager Roberto De Zerbi all but confirmed that both Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister - who has since joined Liverpool - would move on.
“I think it can be the last game for Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo at Brighton," he said after defeat at Villa Park. “I am really sorry because they are two great players but the policy of Brighton is like this. It is right that they can leave to play at higher level."
