Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has issued a public transfer request.
The 21-year-old has been the subject of offers from both Arsenal and Chelsea, who have identified him as a leading target during this month’s transfer window.
Premier League leaders Arsenal have seen a £60m bid rejected by the Seagulls but will continue talks and an improved offer is possible.
Chelsea had failed with a £55m verbal offer prior to Arsenal’s move, with Brighton holding out for a fee upwards of £75m.
The south coast club are under no pressure to sell having already allowed Leandro Trossard to move to the Emirates Stadium this month and are notoriously tough negotiators, extracting maximum value for the likes of Ben White and Marc Cucurella.
Caicedo joined Brighton in 2021 from Independiente del Valle in his native Ecuador and still has over two years to run on his contract at the Amex Stadium.
"I am grateful to Mr. Bloom and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them. I always play football with a smile and with heart,” he wrote on Instagram.
"I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador. My dream always to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador.
"I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful.
"The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take up this magnificent opportunity.”
