Moises Caicedo breaks silence on tackle that injured Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli

Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has admitted he regrets fouling Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli after his challenge injured the Brazilian international on Sunday afternoon.

Martinelli was forced off in the first half of the 3-0 defeat to the Seagulls after he was on the receiving end of a poor challenge from Caicedo in the opening exchanges of the match. Now, the Seagulls star has taken to social media to apologise, admitting that he regrets the tackle. Writing on Twitter, he said:

“If I could turn back time I wouldn't have made that bad tackle. (Shrug emoji).”After the full-time whistle, the 21-year-old was spotted wearing a protective boot as fans feared the worst.

But club doctor O’Driscoll has since allayed worries, admitting that Martinelli’s issue is unlikely to rule him out of his side’s last two games of the season. When asked by a supporter how the player was doing, O’Driscoll replied by saying: “Sore. Terrible foul, disgraceful foul.

"But yeah, he’s a bit sore but he should be okay.” He added: “Yeah, I think he should be back before the end of the season."
