Celtic are considering another Israeli move with Mohammad Abu Fani on the radar.
The Premiership champions evaluated Thursday's Nations League clash between Israel and Iceland as he started alongside Liel Abada during the 2-2 draw.
And they have been alerted to the Maccabi Haifa holding midfielder who has become a star for club and country.
Reports in Israel have stated that Celtic along with Belgian clubs Standard Liege and Royal Antwerp have all run the rule over the 24-year-old.
Abu Fani, who has 13 caps, still has three years left on his contract and would cost around £800,000 if the Champions League bound side were to firm up their interest.
The player is set to decide on his future after Israel’s hectic summer schedule is wrapped up.
Israel has been a popular hunting ground for Celtic in recent years.
Ange Postecoglou has also had success in that market by bringing in Liel Abada last summer.
Celtic are looking for a more defensive midfielder after Israel Nir Bitton left at the end of the season, with a move to Maccabi Tel-Aviv likely to be his next destination.
Postecoglou already has a number of targets lined up but his scouting team and data analysts at the club are also looking at a number of other alternatives, before new head of recruitment Mark Lawwell comes in next month.
Celtic are keen to strengthen their backline, with a left-back and another centre half are priorities.
Another striker is also on the wanted list as they look to strengthen for their Champions League return, with Ferencvaros striker Ryan Mmaee a player the Celtic scouting team has cast their eye over.
Celtic are close to confirming Jota’s permanent arrival from Benfica.
Talks are also on-going with Tottenham Hotspur over a fee for American international Cameron Carter-Vickers.
