Mohamed Salah handed more heartbreak as Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool meeting arranged

Here is your Liverpool morning digest for Wednesday, March 30.

Liverpool's plans for next season clear after Mo Salah heartbreak

Liverpool may have a slightly clearer idea of their plans for next season following the latest World Cup qualifier.

Senegal and Egypt went head to head in their two-legged play-off, with Reds team-mates Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah on opposing sides. The first leg ended 1-0 in favour of Egypt, leaving it all to play for in the reverse fixture on Tuesday evening.

Mane scored the winning penalty for Senegal to send his country through to the World Cup later this year. This came just less than two months after he scored the winning penalty to help Senegal win the Africa Cup of Nations.

Villarreal striker Boulaye Dia opened the scoring for Senegal in the early minutes, to put the tie 1-1 on aggregate. Both Salah and Mane had chances in the match, but the tie ended all square and went to extra time.

Despite a further 30 minutes of extra time, the match remained 1-0 on the night, 1-1 on aggregate, and went to a penalty shootout. Salah missed his spot-kick, as both sides missed each of their first two penalties.

Yaya Toure set for Jurgen Klopp meeting

Former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has revealed that he keeps in regular contact with Jurgen Klopp and is set to meet up with the Liverpool boss.

Toure paid a visit to Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in Austria as they prepared for the new Premier League season. At the time, Toure posted two pictures on his Instagram, with one alongside Klopp - and the other with Mohamed Salah , Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane.

He then wrote: “Great to meet coach Klopp and watch the Liverpool squad training! Top manager and what a humble man, really enjoyed my time with you coach Klopp and the lads here today.”

Toure spent eight years at City - winning three Premier League titles and establishing himself as a club legend - before leaving in 2018. And it appears he still keeps in contact with the Liverpool boss, but only when the Reds win.

“Klopp, when he wins games, I text him and he is delighted and he always invites me [to meet him] and texts me back,” he told The Times . “Does this guy rest? I don’t think so, he loves football. He’s a top, top, guy.”
