Mohamed Salah expected to be called up to Egypt squad for two friendlies by new national coach

Liverpool star man Mohamed Salah is expected to be called up to the Egypt squad by new coach Rui Vitoria in the September international break.

Salah has started the new Premier League season with two goals in four games for the Reds ahead of their game against Newcastle and will be integral to any success 52-year-old Vitoria will have with the Egyptian national side.

Liverpool's No. 11 came so close to achieving his dreams with Egypt earlier this year after reaching the final of the Africa Cup of Nations and the play-offs for World Cup qualification. Unfortunately for Salah, Egypt lost both ties to Senegal.

Egypt will play two friendlies during the camp - the first against Niger on September 23 before they take on Liberia just four days later - as Liverpool face a hectic schedule of nine matches during the month of October. Jurgen Klopp will be left hoping he does not pick up an injury while away on international duty.

“All indications say that Salah will join the foreign-based player squad. There is no reason to prevent him from joining the camp,” Vitoria said during Wednesday's Egypt press conference.

“Our main target from the first camp is to achieve harmony between the technical staff and players, and I also want to monitor players closely, as playing with the national team is totally different from the club level.

“We preferred to postpone the announcement of the preliminary squad until finishing the league on Tuesday to keep players’ concentration.

“We want to give players more experience with the national team so they are ready to be called-up any time. We are monitoring all players and the door is open for all of them to prove their worth."
