NEW DELHI: Congress general secretary in-charge of the communications department Jairam Ramesh levelled a serious allegation against the Narendra Modi government at the Centre by stating that it is looting the people and resorting to brazen profiteering by selling cheap oil at exorbitant prices.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Jairam, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP, said the people of our country are reeling under back-breaking price rise and unemployment. Even though crude has become cheaper by 35 per cent during last year in the international market, the Modi government is continuously and ruthlessly increasing taxes on petrol and diesel.
