New research has revealed that modern parenting styles are more lenient than previous generations in Scotland.
Over half of parents in the country (53 per cent) admitting to taking a more relaxed approach to raising their children, with fewer or inconsistent rules. This is in contrast to the previous generation, with nearly 58 per cent of parents in the study stating that their own parents were strict and rules-heavy.
In their day-to-day lives, 51 per cent of modern parents said that they are more relaxed about their children's diets than their own parents were. Additionally, 38 per cent stated that they do not expect their kids to do chores around the house.
