MLB Latino of the weekend: Teoscar Hernández raises to the occasion as Dodgers take series against Yankees

SEATTLE - The three-game series that saw two of the best teams in Major League Baseball face each other in the Bronx did not disappoint. In its first regular season trip to Manhattan since 2016, the Los Angeles Dodgers proved to be too much for the Yankees, which dropped the first two games before splitting the series on June 9 with a 6-4 win.

With both teams full of stars, it was Teoscar Hernández who had the biggest weekend of all and contributed big time to the Dodgers' series win.

His first big moment of the weekend came on Friday, June 7 in the Dodgers' first game at Yankee Stadium since 2016. After 10 scoreless innings, it was Hernández's bat that made things happen for the visitors, hitting a two-run double onto centerfield to give the Dodgers 2-0 lead.

Less than 24 hours later, Hernández repeated the performance. The second game of the series was destined to be another tight chess battle between both teams until Teoscar's bat changed things for the Dodgers.

"I like to be in the spotlight, the pressure, those big situations," Hernández said. "That's what we play for."

With Los Angeles up by two runs at the top of the eight, Hernández finished things off by connecting a grand slam, his second homer of the game after a solo shot in the second inning. It was his second grand slam with the Dodgers and the fifth in his career.

Despite securing the series' win, Hernández wasn't satisfied with his performances and added a third consecutive multi-hit game. A double early on and a solo shot in the sixth gave Hernández a total of nine RBI and three homers over the weekend.

After a dominant weekend, the Dominican has now improved to a slash line of .266/.333/.516 in the year with 16 home runs. Hernández is playing lights out with 10 RBI and four homers in his last four games. Prior to his hot streak, the Dominican had 10 RBI and two homers in a 23-game period between May 11 and June 5.
