Monday’s game between the Brewers and Mets was the home opener for Milwaukee. And as we often see across sporting events in America, a pregame flyover was scheduled to be part of the festivities.
There was just one problem: The fans at the stadium weren’t able to see it.
Like several stadiums in MLB, American Family Field has a retractable roof. And though the roof is functional and can safely be opened with fans present (unlike Arizona’s Chase Field), the Brewers typically keep the roof closed whenever the temperature is below 60 degrees and there is rain in the forecast. With a 56-degree temperature at first pitch and rain possible in the seventh inning, the stadium’s roof was closed on Monday.
That meant the B-1B Lancer flyover looked like this …
What a flyover for the @Brewers #HomeOpener!! So loud! @CBS58 #ThisIsMyCrew pic.twitter.com/l3kMVkKgfQ

A plane flying over an enclosed building. Spectacular!
You’d think that the Brewers would try to make an exception with the roof just for the flyover, but it didn’t quite work out that way. Fans also had plenty of jokes about the flyover with a closed roof.
This was how Twitter reacted
What football team would do this? My money's on Dallas. https://t.co/Stg6EjdBdF

the fetishization of the military at sporting events is generally very dumb and…never mind I take it back https://t.co/XWEztw5npd
