MKM launches new high-spec home showroom following city business buy-out

MKM’s new home showroom will open its doors in Hull this weekend.

The high specification retail outlet launches following the leading independent builders’ merchant’s acquisition of fellow city business Brooke Ceramics.

It has been described as a “game-changing retail space,” and is aiming to capitalise on a growing number of post-pandemic self-build projects while serving its strong trade following.

Kate Tinsley, chief executive of MKM, said: “We are thrilled to be opening the doors of MKM Home to the public. The showroom is a really exciting step forward in our offering to homeowners and tradespeople alike across Hull and the East Riding, and we can’t wait for people to see these stunning displays for themselves.

“Especially designed to give homeowners a retail experience like no other, the showroom features a host of dynamic displays to inspire customers with their next home improvement project.”

The showroom can be found on the city’s Stoneferry Road, close to MKM’s central support office, and opens on Saturday.

It has been substantially extended since it launched in the original setting in November.

Kitchen and bathroom displays sit with plumbing and heating innovations, with the 25-strong in-house design expert team confident they are highlighting the very latest in sustainable technology.

MKM Home will also feature a landscaping and outdoor living display, and a range of flooring and joinery solutions.

Describing it as “the perfect hub for self-builders to find information, supplies and advice,” Ms Tinsley added: “Complementing MKM’s existing branch in Hull, the new showroom represents a major step forward for the city’s tradespeople, with an extensive product offering to support the varied needs of builders, plumbers, and tilers.”

MKM saw revenues top £650 million last year.
