AIZAWL: Mizoram remained at second position among states having the highest daily caseloads since February 22 (except for a few days) even as Covid infections in the last 24 hours dipped to 494.
The state also remained in the third position among the states in the highest number of active cases. The state had 2,379 active cases on Tuesday at 5 pm, while the number of casualties rose to 672. The test positivity rate (TPR) in the last 24 hours was 14.51% compared to the national average of 0.37%.
Mizoram contributed the highest 94.46% of the total daily cases among northeastern states in the last 24 hours with the other seven states registering a mere 29 infections.
The recovery rate, however, has improved steadily and was 98.62% on Tuesday at 5 pm with 2,18,417 patients recovering out of the total 2,21,468 infected people.
Meanwhile, Mizoram Kohhran Hruaitute Committee, a conglomerate of 16 major church denominations, recently wrote to chief minister Zoramthanga asking him not to impose church service guidelines. The committee asked Zoramthanga, who is also chairman of the Mizoram state disaster management authority, to let the churches frame their own guidelines for conduct of services.
