Mixed reaction as Sunderland fans have their say on Lee Johnson's sacking

Sunderland fans have been reacting to the news that manager Lee Johnson has been sacked.

Lee Johnson was under pressure after Sunderland lost to Bolton 6-0 away yesterday, having won only only one of their last five matches.

@eternalbluesun_ tweeted: “I don't even know what I'm more shocked about... yesterday or this.”

@AbsGlasper wrote: “I am so shocked.”

@MattySunlun said: “Terrible decision in my opinion. 2 days before the window is closed.”

@ArtByJackson added: “Nah this isn’t right at all.”

@yaboyjimmy44 wrote: “This is insane. Yes we’ve had dips in form but we’ve played some very good football under LJ as well. And he’s just made loads of new signings. He should of had time to work with them and see what they could do.”

A statement from the club said the process to replace Johnson will start immediately and an update regarding an “interim coaching set-up” will be given “shortly”, which suggests a new permanent manager has not been lined up.

@marktsafc said: “I really, really hope they have a plan.”

@StephenStubbs5 tweeted: “They need to have someone lined up or this is a shocking decision, next person through the door has to be the one.”

However, there were others who thought that it was the right decision to avoid another slide down the table.

@anorthernbullet wrote: “Thanks for yer efforts. Not good enough in the end. Onwards.”

@RobTate87 said: “Shocked me. All the best Lee clearly a good bloke and been canny to watch in patches. The results speak for them selves though and had to gan.”

While @EthanSmith1717 wrote: “Thanks for everything Lee.”
