Missouri woman held her newborn for baby daughter 11 minutes before the newborn died daughter died. The hospital still charges her $6,280 for a nursery

Aaron Laxton, an executive director at a mental health facility in St Louis, Missouri, recently highlighted a billing case on his social media. He posts under the name aaronthesocialworker on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. His goal with posting these videos is to expose the healthcare costs in the country, billing errors, and to help everyone navigate the healthcare system. Per his profile, he takes on cases to help people resolve them when they hit a wall.

The core of the issue within this post is a bill that allegedly included a charge for “Newborn admission. Nursery Level 1. Routine newborn care. Full day.” Laxton tells us that in this case, the woman’s daughter, tragically, lived for only 11 minutes after being born on March 9. According to Laxton, the baby was never admitted to a nursery and never received routine nursery care, as she spent every one of those 11 minutes in her mother’s arms.
