A Missouri couple was arrested after they botched an at-home circumcision on their baby son, according to a Morgan County deputy.

Tyler Gibson, who is not medically trained, said he performed research and said a prayer before using a utility tool to perform the at-home circumcision on Nov. 27, according to reporting by KRCG.

Gibson and his wife, Bailey, then took their baby to Lake Regional Hospital and then University Hospital because he was bleeding excessively, but left because they were tired of waiting, KRCG reported.

The following day, the Gibsons called a University Hospital hotline to report the botched circumcision, which was then relayed to authorities.

Both parents were later arrested.

Tyler was charged with two felonies: abuse of a child and unauthorized practice of medicine or surgery while his wife, who admitted to helping her husband with the procedure, was charged with child abuse.
