Rumors about Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin leaving to become Auburn’s new coach have been abundant since the Tigers fired Bryan Harsin in late October. But earlier this week, Kiffin refuted a report on Twitter claiming that the Ole Miss coach is, in fact, taking the Auburn gig.
Of course, he did it in his own snarky way as one of college football Twitter’s top trolls, mimicking the tweet’s original format to joke about the reporter changing jobs.
Well, after No. 20 Ole Miss’ 24-22 loss Thursday to Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, the Bulldogs’ main account perfectly roasted Kiffin with a taste of his own trolling.

The text from Mississippi State’s tweet reads:

BREAKING NEWS: DAWGS. WIN. AGAIN.
MISSISSIPPI STATE DEFEATS OLE MISS TO WIN THE BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN EGG.
STORY SOON ON HAILSTATE.COM.
Like Kiffin did in responding to the reporter about the Auburn job, Mississippi State followed with a very similar format after the rivalry game victory.
Here’s how the Ole Miss coach reacted to the job change report on Twitter earlier this week:
That’s news to me Jon. 🤦♂️. Nice sources 🚫👿🪑🍽 https://t.co/P8rdpxEk0p

And, for what it’s worth, after Ole Miss lost, Kiffin reiterated his intention to stay in Oxford. Via ESPN:
“Yes, I do,” Kiffin said Thursday when asked if he expects to return to Ole Miss next season.
