Missing Owami Davies ‘may still be regularly travelling by rail in a vulnerable state, appearing confused’

A missing nurse may be riding trains across London trying to approach lone female passengers in a “confused state”, police said.

Owami left her family home in Chafford Hundred, Grays, and was last seen in Derby Road, West Croydon on July 7.

British Transport Police tweeted on Thursday: “We know Owami Davies, 24, regularly uses the rail and tube network to travel from Grays, Essex to the Croydon area.

“Owami may still be regularly travelling by rail in a vulnerable state, appearing dazed or confused and possibly seeking to engage with other lone female travellers. If you know where Owami is, ring the police.”

CCTV released last week showed her in a dark jacket, red Adidas T-shirt, light grey joggers at 12.30pm walking north on London Road away from West Croydon towards Norbury.

It came as police investigating her disappearance received new reports of someone matching her description in the south London area.

Officers working on the investigation have retrieved some 50,000 hours of footage that will need to be trawled through.

Detective Chief Inspector Nigel Penney, leading the near six-week probe, reassured anyone helping Ms Davies they are not in any trouble.

He said: “The search to find Owami Davies continues and we are conducting searches, appeals and extensive CCTV enquiries in order to trace and find her. I would remind people this remains a missing person enquiry.”

Five people arrested in connection with Ms Davies’ disappearance - two on suspicion of murder and three on suspicion of kidnap - have been released on bail, pending further investigation.

Owami’s mother Nicol Davies has made desperate appeals for help to find her daughter (PA Wire)

Owami’s mother Nicol Davies, 46, has made public appeals through the police for help finding her daughter.

She said: “This is such a terrible time for all those who love Owami and I am pleading for anyone who can help find her to contact police.

“Every day we hope to hear the news that Owami is coming back to us, your help might make it so.”

Owami was nearing the end of her studies and had secured a job with Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.

She had worked in A&E during the Covid-19 pandemic and was interested in doing research on diseases.

Ms Davies, who is nicknamed “Princess” due to her love of Disney, had family holidays planned to Spain and Disneyland Paris.
