A missing Lanarkshire man's car has been found at a beauty spot over 50 miles from his home.

James Clacher was last seen in Airdrie at around 4pm on Monday.

The 53-year-old's car, a black Suzuki Swift, has since been found at the car park for Loch Long in Arrochar, Argyll.

James is described as bald, five foot, six inches tall and of an athletic build.

Police searching for James are 'concerned for his welfare' as enquiries are ongoing to 'establish his subsequent movements'.

Sergeant Kenny Gilroy said: “We are concerned for James’s welfare and would urge anyone with information or who believes they may have seen him to get in touch.

“This includes anyone who may have heard from him in his home area of Lanarkshire or anyone who has been in the area of Loch Long and believes they may have seen him.

“If you can help please call 101, quoting 0985 of May 31.”
