Missing Edinburgh teenager Layla Kuwahara, 16, last seen in Merchiston area

An appeal has been issued after a 16-year-old girl went missing in Edinburgh on Friday morning.

Officers are appealing for the public’s help to trace a 16-year-old girl reported missing from Edinburgh.

Layla Kuwahara was last seen in East Castle Road in the Merchiston area of the city around 11.40am on Friday, August 26.

Layla is descried as white, of slim build, 5ft 4ins, with dark shoulder length hair. When last seen, she was wearing light coloured pyjama bottoms and a dark pyjama top.

Sergeant David Porter said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Layla’s welfare and I would urge anyone who has seen her or knows where she is to get in touch.

“Likewise, if Layla sees or hears about this appeal please call us or your family so we know you are safe and well.”

Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 1339 of Friday, 26 August, 2022.
