Today we urge Mirror readers to help tell the Russian people about the horrors of war taking place in Ukraine in their name.
While devastating conflict is making headlines around the world, the Russian people are not being told of the thousands of deaths, indiscriminate bombing, destruction of cities, massacres of civilians and widespread rape of women and girls in their neighbouring country - and any such talk is now a criminal offence leading to 15 years in jail.
Honest media outlets have been shut down, and protests against the war cracked down upon with speed and severity.
So the Russian people from Moscow in the west to Yakutsk in the east, from Archangel in the far north Arctic Circle to Irkutsk down south near the Mongolian border have no idea of what is really happening in Ukraine.
Since the Russian invaded Ukraine on February 24, many Mirror readers have been asking what they can do to help.
And while many have kindly donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee: Ukraine Appeal and offered to take desperate Ukrainian refugees into your own homes, it still does not feel like enough.
So today we are printing a letter written in Russian which you can send to ordinary Russians to enlighten them of the truth and hopefully begin to combat President Vladimir Putin ’s lies.
Our letter says: “We know you are good people who want to live in peace and watch your children grow up to be happy, healthy and care about others.
But we also know there is no free press in Russia and your leaders are cheating you with a daily diet of lies about the war in Ukraine. Your President is not telling the truth.”

The Russian people are not even aware of the heavy losses their own forces - their own sons, brothers, fathers and uncles - have suffered in this evil conflict.
Cut out our letter in Russian, pop it in an envelope and address it.
Russian addresses can be found on a random address generator at: www.bestrandoms.com/random-address-in-ru

If you do not have the internet, maybe try your local library or ask a friend to help.
Posting a letter to Russia costs from £1.85 - and it may begin to change hearts and minds among ordinary Russians who have done no wrong but are simply led by a psychopathic dictator.
Dear our Russian friends
We are writing to you because we want you to know the truth about the war in Ukraine.
Britain is a friend of the Russian people. We play against your football teams and drink Russian vodka. We know you are good people who want to live in peace and watch your children grow up to be happy, healthy and care about others.
But we also know there is no free press in Russia and your leaders are cheating you with a daily diet of lies about the war in Ukraine.
So you may not be aware thousands of innocent people, including women and children, are being slaughtered. Or that Russian forces have withdrawn from Kyiv, leaving evidence they executed many civilians, some shot in the back while tied hand and foot. We are also very sorry to tell you women were raped, sometimes in front of their children.

We know your sons, brothers and boyfriends are being conscripted against their will to fight in Ukraine. Sadly the lives of many of your young men
have been lost already and we feel sorrow for all those mourning because of this terrible war. Please believe us when we tell you this is an illegal war by Vladimir Putin that has been condemned by 141 countries around the world.
Your President is not telling the truth when he says Ukraine is a threat to Russia and full of Nazis. If you cannot or will not believe what we write
please, at least, ask yourself the questions that must lurk in your soul. Why has your President silenced the free press? Why are your young men being sent to their deaths? Who benefits from this war?
Like us, we are sure you do not want to see more people die, more children grow up orphaned, more families torn apart.
We urge you to be on the side of friendship between nations.
