‘Miracle survivor’ of deadly LaGuardia crash thrown 320ft across runway

  • Two pilots, Antoine Forest and Mackenzie Gunther, died when their Air Canada Express flight collided with a Port Authority fire truck at New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
  • The Bombardier CRJ-900, arriving from Montreal with 76 passengers and crew, struck the emergency vehicle on Runway 4, which had been cleared to cross while responding to a separate incident.
  • Flight attendant Solange Tremblay miraculously survived after being ejected 320 feet from the aircraft, sustaining multiple fractures, and is due to undergo surgery.
  • Passengers hailed the deceased pilots as heroes, believing their actions, such as attempting reverse thrust, prevented further casualties.
  • The collision led to a nearly 14-hour airport closure, over 500 flight cancellations, and is currently under joint investigation by US and Canadian authorities.
