Designer Aisha Rao's slow, planet conscious fashion show made an impact at FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week.
Making a show stopping entry was Bollywood actor, Shahid Kapoor's Mira Kapoor who looked ultra-glam in a tiny ornate choli, which matched the glorious embellished lehenga.
There was unrestrained glamour in Aisha Rao’s “Divergence” collection at the FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week when the designer brought in her new line with an up- graded version of slow, planet conscious fashion.
The collection offered exclusive designs for lehengas and swirling skirts that made a grand entry on the ramp. The 60’s inspired shift dresses acquired Aisha’s singular designer touches with signature appliqués that were hand crafted from surplus fabrics.
There was a marked creative merger of some traditional silhouettes that were reinvented with a contemporary touch. Embellishments added the necessary craft touches with pitta and aari work along with dazzling zardosi. The inclusion of macramé and dori work further enhanced the creative elements of the line.
When it came to the base fabrics that once again created a lasting appeal for the ensembles, Aisha chose luxurious tissue, organza, lush raw silk as well as lightweight yet wearable georgette.
Patchwork embellishments played a major role with myriad colours and craft as they came together for a long sleeve creation. The psychedelic embroidered maxi had shades of surreal motifs that resembled the various galaxies. Another strappy ensemble engulfed in embroidery was a conversation stopper.
Strappy slinky gowns, shararas with flared tunics, flouncy skirts and tunics with bell-bottom pants dazzled on the ramp. Eliminating the dupatta in many entries the collection was aimed at the bridal festivities during the coming months.
Men’s wear was as festive with kurtas, bandi and sherwani completing the offering.
Aisha Rao’s complete design approach to responsible conscious fashion with amazing aesthetics for her collection “Divergence” offered show-stopping looks.
Designer Aisha Rao said, “The collection is called divergence, the thought behind it is about appreciating our planet, which I believe is the most beautiful work of art. I think this collection was a transcendental escape into the beauty of the Earth and I am extremely happy to be showcasing at the FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week, it’s great to be back on-ground after 2 years."
