Minority group condemns brutal murder of Nayan Sadhu in Bangladesh

Dhaka: Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council (HBCUC) on Saturday strongly condemned the brutal murder of Nayan Sadhu and demanded tough punishment for those responsible.

On April 22, the charred body of Nayan Sadhu, who served at Sri Sri Sarvajanin Shiv Kali Temple at Khurmanshkul Union of Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila, was found hanging from a tree in a deep forest far from the temple.

A human chain and protest rally were held under the banner of various outfits at National Press Club premises in Dhaka on Friday. Minority Oikya Morcha, Jubo Oikya Parishad and Chhatra Oikya Parishad -- affiliate bodies of Oikya Parishad (Unity Council) -- participated in the demonstrations.

According to HBCUC, on the evening of April 19, two unidentified individuals had called out Nayan Sadhu from the temple. Following his disappearance, the temple's head, Anjana Shil, immediately informed local police station. His body was discovered three days later.
