SURAT: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by her neighbour in the wee hours of Friday. The Pandesara police have detained one suspect.
According to police, the girl lives with her parents and siblings in Vadod. Her father (33) is a native of Uttar Pradesh and runs an egg eatery in the same area. Her mother is a home-maker and her elder brother is 12 years old and sister is nine years old.
On Thursday evening, the girl’s father went to his cart to do business as usual and returned home around 10pm. The family, along with the man’s friend, had dinner together and then all went to bed around 11pm. While all family members slept inside the house, the girl and the man’s friend slept on the pushing cart parked opposite their house.
Around 3am, a woman in the neighbourhood raised an alarm after she that the girl was crying and running on the nearby lane. The girl’s parents woke up and came out of their house. Other residents soon gathered there. The mother took the girl inside and found that her daughter had been raped.
When the mother asked the girl about the incident, she told her about it in detail and also showed the house where she had been taken by a man. Meanwhile, someone called the 108 services and also the police.
The girl’s father filed a complaint. Pandesara police registered an offence of kidnapping (IPC 363), rape (IPC 376), and different sections of POCSO Act. Investigation was on.
