Minnesota State’s Board of Trustees on Wednesday approved a proposal to transfer up to $25 million each year for the next four years to schools in financial crisis. The money would largely come from peer institutions — primarily two-year community and technical colleges.
For fiscal year 2028, $10 million would go to St. Cloud State University and $4.8 million to Bemidji State University. Officials with Minnesota State say the proposal is a short-term response to immediate pressures at the two schools, which already have made steep cuts to employee positions, academic programs and other costs.
