Mining giant abandons project in coal royalties stoush

A mining giant has walked away from another major project in an escalating coal royalties spat despite receiving a state government's approval.

Two months after mothballing a mine, BHP Mitsubishi Alliance has confirmed it will walk away from plans to develop the Saraji East project in Queensland's Bowen Basin near Mackay.
