Mini village of temporary cabins to house dozens of people in Eryri National Park for almost two years

A small village of temporary cabins or 'bunkabins' could be built to house dozens of people in Eryri National Park for almost two years. The plan would provide accommodation for workers on a major infrastructure scheme.

Planning permission has been granted to reduce the visual impact of National Grid’s overhead line across the Dwyryd Estuary from Minffordd to Llandecwyn in Gwynedd, NorthWalesLive reports. The Eryri VIP project would see the removal of a section of the overhead line to be replaced with electricity cables buried in a tunnel underground.

Its construction is set to be a mammoth scheme and will require a significant workforce – many of whom will need to come in from other areas. This means that Hochtief (UK) Construction will need a large site to house its workers. A proposal will be put forward on land at Blaen Cefn, Penrhyndeudraeth.
