Although the next big update for Minecraft is still a mystery, the team at Mojang are still working hard on keeping things running as smoothly as possible. Unfortunately, there is a lot of controversy surrounding Minecraft in 2022 as the new chat reporting and moderating system has come under a lot of fire for being unnecessary and broken.
This means fans will be disappointed to hear that the Minecraft update today doesn’t make any alterations to the system whatsoever. However, it does make a few tweaks and changes that the game has needed for a little while, especially with Bedrock Edition’s many bugs after The Wild Update launched.
We’ve put together the biggest changes and fixes you need to know about.
Minecraft Java Edition fixes
Java Edition 1.19.2 is one of the most minor updates ever. The focus for this update was mostly on Bedrock Edition, so those who play on Java are getting just two bug fixes to do with the secure chat system. It’s not any fixes people want though, as it is simply fixing two crashing issues; one on the social interaction screen, and another with the system in general.
Middle mouse support in iOS - Minecraft
A feature that many players may not even know exists in Minecraft is the “pick block” command, which, in Creative Mode, will automatically place the block you’re looking at in your hand; in Survival Mode, it will only do so if you have the block in your Hotbar. It’s a very useful feature when you’re building a complex structure that requires lots of different block types, and now those who play on iOS will be able to use it.
Zombies can break doors again - Minecraft
In the old days of Minecraft, you’d need something a lot stronger than a wooden door to keep Zombies out in the night. Many of us Minecraft veterans still get flashbacks to building our protective box, only for the door to be busted open in horror. At some point along the way this feature was removed, but if you play on hard difficulty, then you’re no longer safe.
Now, on hard mode, Zombies have a 10% chance to break down a door when they slam into it, so you might want extra fortifications for you and your Villagers.
Polar Bears no longer panic when attacked
Polar Bears are strange creatures in Minecraft, they’ve passive unless they’re provoked, either by attacking them or going near their cubs. There has been a weird bug in the game for a little while where, when a Polar Bear is attacked, it will simultaneously become hostile and panicked. Meaning it tried to attack the player, but also ran away at the same time. It looked weird, but it’s fixed now.
Sculk’s hearing changed
The Sculk’s ability to hear and react to nearby sounds is cool, but there are a lot of little ways in which it didn’t work. The biggest one was what would happen if it detected two sounds at the same time. Sometimes it would react to one noise at random, other times it wouldn’t react to either, but now a proper behaviour has been set.
Now the Sculk will always react to the closest sound when they happen simultaneously. If the sounds are equidistant, the highest frequency noise will be detected. Frequency is a feature that detects how loud a noise is. For example, a Creeper exploding is maximum frequency, but a player sneaking is minimum frequency.
