Kevin Muscat Favourite In The Next Millwall Manager Odds Market

Championship side Millwall are on the hunt for a new head coach so the SportsCasting traders, along with the best football betting sites in the UK, have priced up the most-likely candidates – with former player Kevin Muscat the betting favourite at 2/1.

Muscat played 53 games (no goals) for the Lions between 2003 and 2005, before heading back to his homeland in Australia to play out his career with the Melbourne Victory.

The former Palace, Rangers and Wolves man then turned his hand to management Down Under – taking charge of the Melbourne Victory for six years between 2013 and 2019 – winning the A-League title at the Aussie club.

Plus, back in 2017, Muscat was also called upon by current Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou, who was in charge of the Australian national side at the time, to be part of their coaching staff for the FIFA Confederations Cup.

Having left the Melbourne Victory in 2019, Muscat joined Belgium side Sint-Truidense in 2020 – but only lasted six months after poor results.

He then found himself at J1 League side Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan – taking over from that man Postecoglou again – just like he had done at the Melbourne Victory. He won the league title there in 2022.

His most recent club was in China, when taking the helm with Shanghai Port – under Muscat’s guidance they won the 2024 Chinese Super League – he’s currently still at the club.

Commentary: sportscasting.com/uk spokesman Andy Newton, reacted to our Next Millwall Manager Betting Odds’ saying:

“With links back to Millwall and a successful career as a manager both in Australia and currently in China – it’s no shock to see Kevin Muscat at the head of the next manager market to replace Neil Harris.

“Former Coventry manager Mark Robins is another name that’s been rumoured to be in the mix, while ex-Leicester man Steve Cooper could look to rebuild his career back in the Championship and doesn’t look bad value at 5/1 either.

Steve Cooper Could Look For A New Challenge at Millwall

According to the best betting sites in the UK other names that are just behind the main players in the next Millwall manager betting odds market is Steve Cooper.

Cooper is the general second favourite in the market behind Kevin Muscat and having done well in the Championship before with Swansea and Nottingham Forest, you feel the former Leicester boss would be high on their list.

The Foxes let Cooper go in late November 2024 after a poor run of results – having only joined Leicester in June 2024. He was replaced by Ruud Van Nistelrooy at the King Power Stadium.

Jose Mourinho Joked About Being The Next Millwall Manager

As soon as the news of Neil Harris stepping down as Millwall manager, Jose Mourinho joked that he’d take the job – he’s on offer at a stonking 100/1 if you think this will actually happen.

Mourinho is, of course, in charge of Turkish side Fenerbahce, but said “Millwall. Millwall. I just cross the bridge from my house! Millwall.”

The former Chelsea manager also suggested back in October that he’d love a return to English football – where he’s also been in charge at Manchester United and Spurs.

However, Millwall fans might have to wait a bit longer as ‘the special one’ also recently said – “But don’t get me wrong, and let’s make it very very clear, for the next two years, this season and next, no one will take me from Fenerbahce,”

Lee Carsley and John Terry Lively Outsiders In Next Millwall Manager Betting Market

Another former England man Lee Carsley is not ruled out in the next Millwall manager betting market at 10/1.

While former team-mates and England internationals John Terry (16/1) and Ashley Cole (20/1) are other interesting names on the list.
