Millwall fans have called on Jose Mourinho to stick to his word after he jokingly suggested he would manage the Lions in the future.
Neil Harris is set to leave the club after this weekend’s fixture with Middlesbrough, it was confirmed on Tuesday.
It comes days after he appeared to call a small section of the Millwall support “thickos” over criticism following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Coventry.
The Lions are winless in their last four games and sit 11th in the Championship.

Jose Mourinho Jokingly Suggests Millwall As A Club He Would Manage
Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho jokingly suggested he would be interested in becoming manager of Millwall.
When asked during an interview with Sky Sports in October if he would be interested in managing a team in England fighting relegation, Mourinho replied: “Millwall. Millwall. I just cross the bridge from my house! Millwall.”
Millwall fans haven’t forgotten his statement two months on and urged him to take up the opportunity.
One fan wrote: “Mourinho called it on. He’ll have to step up now or look silly.”
Jose Mourinho wants to work in London again. He has cheekily named Millwall as the next club he would like to manage in English football.

Another commented: “Jose Mourinho is taking over from Neil Harris at Millwall. You heard it here first.”
While a third said: “Jose Mourinho, a man can dream #Millwall.”
Though Mourinho joked about becoming the next manager of Millwall, fans might have to wait until the end of the 2025-26 season.
In the same interview with Sky Sports, he said: “But don’t get me wrong, and let’s make it very very clear. For the next two years, this season and next, no one will take me from Fenerbahce.”
Millwall Confirm Harris Exit
Millwall have stated that they are already searching for a replacement and will confirm plans for an interim manager following Saturday’s game.
Director of Football Steve Gallen said: “A comprehensive recruitment process was already underway for a new head coach.
“The direction we as a club want to head in is clear and the next head coach will play a pivotal role in helping us execute our strategy.”
And club chairman James Berylson said he accepted Harris’ decision to leave.
Berylson said: “As we look forward, the appointment of our next head coach will align with the clear strategy and vision I have previously laid out for the future of Millwall Football Club, both on and off the pitch.”
