Local MotoGP hope Jack Miller says he has a plan to bounce back from a mixed day of practice at the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
The 27-year-old set a hot pace in the morning session, finishing second-fastest, but slumped to 13th in P2 to bring Friday to a disappointing end.
"Not the ideal first day but we've had worse," Miller told reporters.
"I felt good in the morning, put the tyre in and the bike was working relatively good.
"I had a little issue with the rear, I just couldn't get the front loaded and with all of these fast corners, I wasn't really able to push.
"We've got a decent plan for (the rest of the weekend) so I'm just hoping the weather stays decent enough for us to try and have another time-attack.
"We know what we're going to do and just trying to get that bike to transfer."
Miller is aiming to become the first Australian since the legendary Casey Stoner in 2012 to win at the famous Phillip Island circuit.
If Miller is able to back up his success in Japan last month, the Ducati rider would join Stoner and fellow Australian legends Mick Doohan and Wayne Gardner to have won a home grand prix.
Riders will be back out on track on Saturday for two more practice sessions before qualifying commences later in the day.
Miller, who is fifth in the overall championship standings 40 points behind speedy Italian leader Fabio Quartararo, remains an outside title chance.
