SAN JOSE, Calif. — Two popular Northern California acts — Michael Franti & Spearhead and Cake — are set to headline the second annual Mill Valley Music Festival.
The lineup, which was announced Tuesday, also includes Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew’s Remain in Light, Tank and the Bangas, Durand Jones, the Dip, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, Valerie June, Orchestra Gold and the Alive.
The festival, which expands to two days in 2023, is set to take place May 13-14 at Friends Field (located adjacent to the Mill Valley Community Center).
Two-day passes start at $219 are on sale now via MillValleyMusicFest.com. The festival is produced by the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce.
“With a commitment to creativity, our team worked its tail off to create something new and exciting in this town we love,” says Jim Welte, director of the Mill Valley Chamber. “Overwhelmed by the massive response from our neighbors and Bay Area friends, I knew our team had to really raise the bar for 2023 and we couldn’t be more proud of how this year’s lineup came together.”
The event features an impressive rooster of talent, including alt-rock favorites Cake from Sacramento and Oakland native Franti leading his popular Spearhead group. Other highlights include Harrison and Belew’s Talking Heads-focused Remain in Light project and Grammy-nominated New Orleans act Tank and the Bangas.
“This new group of performers is sure to not only leave a longstanding impression on festival attendees but will also entice new travelers to visit our incredible community,” Welte says. “Come springtime, we hope the whole Bay Area will make a weekend trip to explore and see for themselves what makes Mill Valley such a special and unique place.”
Daily performance schedules will be released at a later date.
