Milky Mist Dairy Food IPO Day 1: Subscribed 40% so far, GMP signals 15% listing gain. Should you subscribe?

The Milky Mist Dairy Food IPO opened for subscription today, August 11, and has already generated strong investor interest. On Day 1, the issue was 41% subscribed, with investors bidding for shares against the 8.17 crore shares on offer. The retail portion saw even stronger demand, reaching 61% subscription against the 4.08 crore shares reserved for retail investors.

Adding to the buzz is the IPO’s Grey Market Premium (GMP), which is currently hovering around 15% above the upper price band of Rs 140 per share. If the GMP trend holds, it could signal a potentially strong listing for Milky Mist shares.

However, a healthy GMP is not the only factor investors should consider. Market analysts believe the IPO appears fully valued at the upper price band, while still assigning a “Subscribe – Long Term” rating to the issue, indicating potential for investors with a longer investment horizon.

The Rs 1,553 crore book-built issue comprises a fresh issue of 10.20 crore shares worth Rs 1,428 crore and an Offer for Sale (OFS) of 0.89 crore shares valued at Rs 125 crore.

Under the OFS component, promoter shareholders Sathishkumar T. and Anitha S. will sell shares worth Rs 75 crore and Rs 50 crore, respectively. The OFS will provide the promoters with an opportunity to partially reduce their holdings, while the bulk of the IPO proceeds will come from the fresh issue.

Milky Mist Dairy Food has raised Rs 465.29 crore from anchor investors by allotting 3.32 crore equity shares to 19 investors at the upper price band of Rs 140 per share, with bidding for the anchor portion concluding on Monday, August 10, according to an exchange filing.

The funds raised through the fresh issue are expected to be utilised towards the company’s stated business objectives.

The IPO will open for subscription on August 11, 2026, and close on August 13, 2026. The basis of allotment is expected to be finalised on August 14, while the shares are tentatively scheduled to list on both the NSE and BSE on August 18, subject to the final timetable.

The issue has a price band of Rs 133–140 per share and a lot size of 107 shares. At the upper end of the price band, retail investors will need a minimum investment of Rs 14,980 to bid for one lot.

JM Financial Ltd. is the book-running lead manager for the issue, while Kfin Technologies Ltd. is acting as the registrar.

Milky Mist Dairy Food IPO Subscription Status

The Retail Individual Investors (RIIs) category saw stronger demand, with the portion subscribed 61% against the 4.08 crore shares reserved for retail investors.

The Non-Institutional Investors (NIIs) portion was subscribed 45%, compared with the 1.74 crore shares on offer.

Meanwhile, the Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) category saw relatively muted demand, with subscription at 2% against the 2.33 crore shares reserved for institutional investors.

Milky Mist Dairy Food IPO GMP Today

The Milky Mist Dairy Food IPO is also attracting attention in the grey market, with the latest Grey Market Premium (GMP) pointing to a potential 15% listing gain.

The IPO’s GMP currently stands at Rs 20 per share over the upper issue price of Rs 140, implying an estimated listing price of around Rs 160 per share, assuming the prevailing grey-market trend continues.

At this level, Milky Mist Dairy Food shares could make their market debut at a premium to the IPO’s upper price band, signalling healthy investor interest ahead of listing.

However, investors should keep in mind that GMP is an unofficial and unregulated indicator and can fluctuate significantly before listing. It should therefore not be viewed as a guarantee of listing gains and should instead be assessed alongside the company’s fundamentals, IPO valuation and broader market conditions.

Objects of the Issue

Milky Mist Dairy Food Ltd. plans to deploy the net proceeds from its IPO primarily towards strengthening its balance sheet and funding expansion. The company also plans to invest Rs 155.31 crore in deploying visi coolers, ice cream freezers and chocolate coolers, aimed at strengthening its distribution and market presence. The remaining proceeds will be utilised for general corporate purposes, with the overall deployment reflecting a focus on deleveraging, expanding production capabilities and enhancing its market reach.

Milky Mist Dairy Food IPO: Should You Subscribe?

According to a research report by Anand Rathi, Milky Mist Dairy Food is valued at an implied P/E multiple of 84.9x based on FY2026 earnings at the upper end of the IPO price band.

The brokerage noted that the company’s strong revenue growth, leadership across key value-added dairy categories and premium positioning could support a valuation premium. However, it also highlighted that the IPO appears fully valued at the upper price band.

Given the company’s growth prospects and positioning, Anand Rathi has assigned a “Subscribe – Long Term” rating to the IPO, suggesting that investors may consider the issue from a longer-term perspective rather than focusing solely on potential listing gains.
