Milford to make NRL return against Broncos

Newcastle's Anthony Milford is set to make his NRL return against former club Brisbane. (AAP)

Anthony Milford's seven-month NRL absence is set to end with Newcastle naming the 27-year-old to make his club debut against former team Brisbane.

Milford was picked up by the Knights in April after a move to South Sydney collapsed due to assault charges being laid against him for an alleged incident in Brisbane last September.

The NRL refused to register Milford's one-year deal with the Rabbitohs due to the charges, but he was able to join the Knights after being cleared in April.

Knights coach Adam O'Brien has named Milford to start at five-eighth for Thursday's game against the Broncos, where the ex-Queensland State of Origin representative made 151 appearances in seven seasons.

The Knights are looking to build on last weekend's 16-6 win over Canterbury that snapped a seven-game losing streak, and also welcome back NSW State of Origin forward Tyson Frizell from illness.

Brisbane, who are on a four-game winning run after belting Manly 38-0 last Friday, have named an unchanged line-up despite fullback Te Maire Martin in doubt with a hip complaint.

Cronulla, meanwhile, have named Olympian Lachie Miller at fullback for his NRL debut, meaning captain Nicho Hynes can return to the halves for Sunday's game against Gold Coast at CBUS Super Stadium.

Aiden Tolman comes into the starting line-up for the Sharks with Dale Finucane (concussion) again ruled out.

The Titans have stuck with the same team that snapped a five-game losing run against St George Illawarra last weekend.

Tyrell Sloan's disappointing return for the Dragons against the Titans came at a cost with the teenager losing his spot to Cody Ramsey for their clash with the Warriors on Saturday.

Centre Jesse Arthars (shoulder) and five-eighth Chanel Harris-Tavita (groin) have been named among the reserves for the Warriors.

Victor Radley's ankle injury means the Roosters have added Nat Butcher at lock, while Lindsay Collins returns from suspension on the interchange bench for their clash against an unchanged Penrith.

Melbourne welcome Jahrome Hughes back in place of Cooper Johns for their clash with North Queensland in Townsville but have lost Nelson Asofa-Solomona with a knee injury, with Brandon Smith coming into the starting side.

There's some big changes for Friday night's game between Wests Tigers and struggling Canterbury.

A day after coach Trent Barrett quit Belmore, Brent Naden's switch from the Bulldogs to the Tigers means he's been named in an extended squad by Michael Maguire with Jake Averillo coming into the centres for Canterbury.

Backrower Corey Waddell misses due to a head knock with Jackson Topine taking his place for the Dogs, while Jock Madden replaces Luke Brooks (hamstring) at five-eighth for the hosts.

Elsewhere Maika Sivo has been named on the reserves for Parramatta, Jack Wighton is back from suspension for Canberra and Morgan Harper was named by Manly with Ben Trbojevic out with a shoulder injury.
