The Exquisite Gucci fashion show was held at the Gucci Hub in Milan, which is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certified and incorporates best practices already, such as LED lighting. LEED is the most widely used green building rating system and provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings. LEED buildings are a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement.
As further examples of sustainability best practices, the majority of equipment and production elements for the show have been rented. Other elements are reusable by Gucci or will be donated to third parties. In line with this zero-waste focus, on-set production includes best practices related to onsite waste management, sorting and recycling such as the separate collection of waste with single stream recycling bins. Catering uses raw natural, biological foods and the packaging and utensils are plastic-free. Water fountains have also been rented for the show and reusable aluminium bottles are provided for production staff. Furthermore, food leftovers will be donated to local charities.
Finally, the Show is carbon neutral in line with Gucci’s carbon neutral commitments and its environmental footprint is being measured with the support of ReteClima, including: transportation and accommodation of the Show participants (guests, employees, production, models…); energy consumption during the event; consumption for set materials production; catering; waste; and communication (invitations and gifts). All the associated greenhouse gas emissions will be compensated for under Gucci’s Natural Climate Solutions Portfolio, protecting and restoring important forests, mangroves and biodiversity.
