If his performance against Manchester City wasn't encouraging enough, then Jorginho's display in the dramatic 4-2 win at Aston Villa on Saturday should have cleared up any doubt as to exactly why he was brought in.
The frustration and disappointment that was met with the Italian's arrival on deadline day last month was understandable considering the failed pursuit of Moises Caicedo, but Mikel Arteta made it absolutely clear that an extra body in midfield was required. It's believed owner Stan Kroenke and his son Josh had sanctioned the move for Caicedo, but with time - and options - running out, the green light was eventually given to secure Jorginho's services for just £12million.
As the interest made its way into the media, it's safe to say that it split opinion. A combination of his age, profile and the fact that previous business with Chelsea had not been the most successful, left supporters convinced that Jorginho was purely a 'panic buy' and nothing more.
