Nottingham Forest have reportedly received some bad news in their search to replace head physiotherapist Neil Simms as Arsenal's senior physio Simon Murphy 'looks set to stay' in north London.
Simms left the Reds following the Championship play-off final to join Southampton and become the south coast club's lead performance physio. He had spent the previous five years working at the City Ground before making the move, leading a team that included Dimitris Kaplanis, Mark Devonshire and Niall Stevens.
Murphy was reported to have joined Forest back in July as Simms' replacement, but that claim is being contested. For the physio, it would have represented a return to the East Midlands just a single season after leaving Leicester City, where he had worked for seven-and-a-half years.

The Athletic now claim that Murphy is instead 'likely to remain' a part of Arsenal's performance team. Before moving to the capital in the summer of 2021 from the Foxes, he had also spent periods at Derby County's academy and Mansfield Town after studying at the University of Nottingham as an undergraduate, becoming a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy, before continuing his studies in London at Queen Mary University to advance to a Master of Science in Sports and Exercise Medicine.
