Arsenal need a striker added to their ranks this summer. The club attempted to sign Dusan Vlahovic over the course of the winter window, but the Serbian international ended up signing for Juventus and forced the Gunners to reconsider their options.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's time at the club is over after he joined Barcelona on a free transfer, and both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah have contracts which are due to expire at the end of the campaign.
So with a look ahead to the upcoming summer, who could Mikel Arteta target to fill his striker void? Here football.london takes a look.
Patrik Schick (Bayer Leverkusen)
Patrik Schick is a player who seems to be drifting under the radar despite his highly impressive performances in the Bundesliga this season.
Now contracted to Bayer Leverkusen, the Czech Republic international has scored 17 non-penalty goals in the German top-flight from the same number of appearances, placing him behind only Robert Lewandowski.
In fact, no player from Europe's top five leagues is averaging more non-penalty goals on a per-90 basis than Schick this season - based on those who have played at least 600 minutes - with Lewandowski in second followed by Erling Haaland in third.
Now 26, Schick appears ready for a big move, and £50million is his price according to reports that emerged in January, although he did deliver his verdict on leaving the club in January.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton)
There is plenty of sense attached to chasing Dominic Calvert-Lewin's signature.
The Everton striker has blossomed over the past 18 months and seems to be developing into quite a complete striker. He's quick, physically imposing and skilled when it comes to getting on the end of clear-cut chances.
Still just 24 years-old, the Englishman has plenty of time to continue evolving and he's also homegrown, which is a very valuable perk considering the impacts of Brexit on the transfer market.
He could be difficult to secure with a contract at Goodison Park for the next three-and-a-half years, but he's a proven Premier League talent who could lead Arsenal's line and has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium already.
Jonathan David (Lille)
Another player who seems to be experiencing an upward curve in his development is Jonathan David of Lille. No player in Ligue 1 has scored more non-penalty goals than the Canadian's 10 this season.
David is still just 22 years-old which suggests that he's far from his peak, yet his numbers are impressive. In each of his four senior seasons in Belgium and France, he's scored at least 10 non-penalty goals and this year looks likely to rank as his best.
Since moving to Lille, David has showcased plenty of his qualities including his two-footedness. Of the 25 goals he's scored in the French top-flight, 14 have been with his right foot and 10 have been with his left, with one using his head.
His contract doesn't expire until 2025, but Lille are typically willing to sell. David could become a star in the right system.
Adam Hlozek (Sparta Prague)
A wildcard option for the Gunners could be Sparta Prague's Adam Hlozek.
He's just 19 years-old and would likely have to be signed alongside another striker, but he's showcasing notable potential in his home country by finding the net with impressive regularity.
Since the beginning of last season, Hlozek has scored 19 non-penalty goals in the Czech First Division while also registering 17 assists over the same period.
He's featured on a regular basis for Sparta since the age of 16, and his contract is due to expire in two years. Ultimately, Hlozek looks like a big prospect who could be worth far more in the future.
