Arsenal look set to continue their Premier League title push without William Saliba as the defender was not spotted in open training on Tuesday. The Frenchman has been absent for several weeks with a back injury suffered in the Europa League exit at the hands of Sporting CP and does not appear ready for a return.
Rob Holding has deputised in his absence and mostly put in controlled displays, however he was guilty of conceding a penalty in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool. Thankfully, Mohamed Salah put the spot-kick wide with the game remaining at 2-1 but Roberto Firmino later equalised with three minutes to play, guiding home a superb Trent Alexander-Arnold cross.
The Gunners held off Jurgen Klopp's men for nearly 45 minutes, showcasing they are capable of performing admirably without Saliba, but his return would be a huge boost. Unfortunately, that date looks no closer to arriving as Sky Sports reporter James Green has revealed Saliba is not part of Arsenal's training session at London Colney today (Tuesday).

There is some good news on the injury front for Arsenal though with Eddie Nketiah back in training after missing the last month with an ankle injury. The Gunners have coped without the forward, despite his impressive goal return in early 2023, as Gabriel Jesus made a timely return from the knee injury that kept him out for four months, while Leandro Trossard has also been used in a false 9 role during his time out.
Up next for the league leaders is a trip across London to face West Ham on Sunday afternoon. With several days between now and that fixture, Saliba does have adequate time to further his recovery and potentially be involved in the clash, although the crucial fixtures against Manchester City and Chelsea that arrive later in the month could be a more likely return date for Saliba.
