Mikel Arteta makes decision between Mykhaylo Mudryk and Christian Pulisic Arsenal transfer

The January transfer window is nearing and with the mid-season break for the World Cup, teams will have plenty of time to prepare their moves. It gives them a chance to reinforce the squad for the second half of the season and one side that could take advantage of that is Arsenal.

The Gunners have made an ideal start to their Premier League campaign, sitting top of the tree by the month-long stoppage and five points clear of Manchester City in second. The strength in depth between both sides may be the only huge difference between the two sides.

That was made particularly clear when Arsenal crashed out of the Carabao cup as a rotated side lost to Brighton. "The planning of that period is extremely difficult," Mikel Arteta said on the transfer window ahead. "First of all because we know the January window, how special it is, the opportunities that you have, the short window that you have.

"Once you get the player they are straight away competing, so there is not an adaption process. And obviously with the position that we are in right now as well, it demands as well another level of player - and that player has to be available. We will look at everything and let’s see what we can do."

The wide areas are of particular concern, leading to plenty of links surrounding players that could play in that position in January, including Christian Pulisic and Mykhaylo Mudryk. While they have both been linked, it seems unlikely the Gunners will make a ploy to land both.

With that in mind, Fabrizio Romano claims in his column for CaughtOffside that Mudryk remains to priority over Pulisic for Arsenal. The Ukrainian forward is claimed to be valued at €65million (£56million) by Shakhtar Donetsk, lower than the previously claimed €100million (£86million).

While that is the case going into the window, things could still change as the fluidity of the transfer market could see some moves out of left field.
