While Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis was great overall in the Week 14 win over the Miami Dolphins, there were some negatives to mention, with his propensity to take big hits among them.
Nobody is ever going to hate on Levis going the extra mile to make a play, but we also can’t ignore the injury risk that comes with him lowering his shoulder or stretching out to pick up extra yards.
The rookie has to learn how to pick his spots, and it’s something the Titans are working on with him.
At first, the Titans went the route of showing him videos of quarterbacks sliding in order to encourage him to do so. However, clearly that isn’t working.
When asked about it on Tuesday, Vrabel revealed what the next step is to try and teach Levis — and he gave a hilarious response in the process.
“I don’t know, I think we’re still trying to work on that,” Vrabel said, per Paul Kuharsky “We showed him examples of quarterbacks sliding and using the rules to their advantage. I guess we’ll have to show him examples of quarterbacks not sliding and getting the [expletive] knocked out of them.
“So, we’re going to try it the other way this week.”

Vrabel is definitely on to something here.
While he’s putting himself in harm’s way too often, at least Levis has that kind of grit in his blood because it’s far easier to harness that quality in a player than it is to create it.
