Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was the subject of big praise from Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin in public over the last week. So was Tee Higgins.
But that respect and praise happened behind closed doors, too.
Onlookers who watched the first episode of the in-season Hard Knocks this week got to see behind-the-scenes footage of Tomlin prepping personnel for an encounter with Burrow.
“This son of a b—- is dangerous,” Tomlin said. “That dude feels the rush, his eyes are downfield, he just be slithering around the pocket….We gotta keep his a– guessing for four quarters….”
Between this and calling Burrow an MVP-caliber player during pressers, it should pretty much end any argument against Burrow as one of the top passers in the NFL.
It won’t stop the online debates about quarterback rankings, of course. But it speaks volumes to just how good Burrow is when some of the most respected minds in the league talk about him like this when the media isn’t present.
