Mike Tindall’s father Phil dies after 23-year health battle

  • Former England rugby star Mike Tindall has announced the death of his father, Phil Tindall, at the age of 79 following a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
  • Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast, Mike revealed that his father died last week.
  • Phil Tindall was a former captain of Otley Rugby Club in West Yorkshire, which paid tribute to him with a minute's silence during a recent match.
  • Diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2003, Phil's health battle inspired his son to become a patron of the Cure Parkinson's charity in 2018.
  • Mike Tindall has been married for 15 years to Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall, with whom he has three children.
