Mike Rogers Meets With Trump Team For FBI Director Role

Former FBI special agent and ex-Rep. Mike Rogers, who recently lost the Michigan Senate race, met with President-elect Trump's transition team to discuss the potential of serving as FBI director in the upcoming administration. The meeting occurred at Trump's Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.

Rogers, who previously worked in the FBI's Chicago office and chaired the House Intelligence Committee, was previously considered for the FBI director position in 2017 after James Comey's dismissal. However, Trump appointed Christopher Wray instead.

During his 2024 campaign, Trump emphasized the need to reform the FBI, alleging political bias and corruption within the agency. Some sources believe Rogers' background makes him a strong candidate to restore integrity to the Department of Justice.

Rogers, a familiar face on cable news networks, had contemplated a presidential run in 2024 before deciding to run for the Senate in Michigan. Despite receiving Trump's endorsement, he narrowly lost to Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin in the recent election.

Another potential candidate for the FBI director role in the next Trump administration is Kash Patel, a former aide with roles in the National Security Council and Defense Department during Trump's first term.
