Mike Mora dead: Kelis' husband dies at 37 after battling stage 4 stomach cancer

Kelis' husband Mike Mora has tragically passed away at the age of 37.

The renowned photographer revealed back in September 2021 that he was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer.

Mike was initially given just 18 months left to live.

Kelis' representatives confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement asking fans for their respect and privacy at this devastating time.

"Sadly, it’s true that Mike Mora has passed away," the statement read.

"We would ask all to respect Kelis and her family's privacy as of right now. Thank you," said Steve Satterhwaite, of Red Light Management.

Singing sensation Kelis and her photographer husband Mora tied the knot in 2014.

The couple share son Shepherd, 6, and a daughter whose name has yet to be revealed, in September 2020.

In October 2021, Mike revealed that he had been battling cancer for over a year.

The photographer decided to keep his battle private until the time felt right.

At the time, Mike said his symptoms started 'last year' with the 'worst pain' in his stomach.

Mike listed other symptoms including a 'loss of appetite' and 'pain in his back' which ultimately got so bad that it forced him to 'do something about it'.

Kelis' husband then confirmed that doctors diagnosed him with the most advanced form of stomach cancer.

"I thought the whole time that I just had an ulcer. With no idea what was about to come my way," he continued in his post.

"Here I was, in a hospital bed, during the middle of the pandemic. All alone."

Mike said that he wanted to share his story in a bid to help others who might also be suffering with symptoms.

"I want to be able to help those that might be experiencing something like this — a life-altering disease full of questions and doubt — maybe, hopefully. By showing that it's possible to make it through.

"You always see people post about how life is too short. How you should reach out to those you love no matter where life has taken you. It is the truth. Don't take your time here, your time with friends, family, for granted. S— can be over just like that.

"I never thought this could happen to me," he confessed.

"At just 36, with 3 kiddos, and a wife that loves me. I want to be able to help those that might experience something, maybe, hopefully. By showing that it's possible to make it through."
