New Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has started working on building his staff, connecting with his players, and doing some media obligations.
There have been reports that the team has signed a new tight end coach in Jon Embree and retained special teams coordinator Danny Crossman.
McDaniel also hopped on the Dolphins’ podcast “Drive Time with Travis Wingfield,” where he talked about his new job and the reason he’s most excited to work with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
“I’m excited about a player that wants to get better,” McDaniel said. “Point blank, in the coaching-player relationship, both parties have to participate, and you can only get out of the player what they’re willing to put in. I can tell he’s really going to attack it. He’s a player that has an internal chip on his shoulder, but we have a lot of work to do, and that will be a really fun day when we first get on the field.”
Everyone knows that Tagovailoa has struggled at times during his first two seasons with the Dolphins, but McDaniel seems willing to do everything that he can to get the best out of his signal-caller.
