Mike Johnson blames the left. This time, while answering questions related to Trump’s pardoning of criminals

The Republicans always keep talking about the so-called radical left without ever taking responsibility for the more notorious and dangerous radical right it represents.

This time too, they are making no exception with their stance as House Speaker and Trump sympathizer Mike Johnson deflects blame to the left when asked to answer questions related to Trump pardoning the January 6 rioters.

In a recently held press conference, shortly after an individual who was pardoned for being part of the 2021 January 6 Capitol riots was arrested again for making death threats against the Minority Leader of the U.S House of Representatives, Hakeem Jeffries, Mike Johnson was asked by an interviewer if it was wise of President Donald Trump to pardon the multiple accused. Johnson obviously did not answer the question, but instead maintained a very neutral viewpoint. He highlighted the need for all kinds of “political violence” to be dealt with equally, irrespective of the political affiliations of the perpetrator and the victim. Then, he used his favourite weapon of deflection to dismiss the journalist by saying:

“The violence on the left is far more prevalent than the violence on the right. Don’t make me go through the list. We all know it. All of the assassination culture that has been advanced now, this is the left in almost every case that is advancing this and not the right. So, let’s not make it a partisan issue. You don’t want me to go there.”

Mike Johnson’s desperate attempts at sucking up to Donald Trump did not go unnoticed by people on social media. They flocked to the comments of posts that featured videos of this press interaction. On X (formerly Twitter), one person accused Johnson of using deception and wrote under one such video:

“Nothing but lies from this traitor. The violence is coming from the right. Ask him to cite examples. The press just lets them say shit like this and then they move on.”

Others also echoed similar sentiments as they called Mike Johson out for his lies and hate-inciting behaviour, a perfect blend of characteristics of a dictatorship, like the one he supports and propagates.
