Migrants Beat Baby Dolphin and Hold It 'Like a Trophy', Adding to Ceuta Locals' Anger Amid Surge in Sexual Assaults

The death of a baby dolphin has become a new source of controversy in Ceuta, where environmental and social tensions are already high. (Credit: YouTube)

A baby dolphin became the unlikely centre of a furious confrontation on a Ceuta beach after footage appeared to show several men pulling the animal from the water and carrying it above their heads. The disturbing scenes were filmed at El Trampolín beach on 2 September. The video shows people surrounding the dolphin before one man appears to lift the animal above his head.

A local man can be heard confronting the group and warning them that the dolphin should not be touched. The animal was later reported dead. Local reports have alleged that the dolphin was struck on the head with a stick. But the available footage does not establish whether the alleged blow caused its death. That distinction is crucial as authorities investigate the incident.
