Midlothian mum dies weeks after giving birth as tributes paid to 'amazing' 29-year-old

Tributes have been made to an 'amazing' Midlothian mum after she tragically passed away just weeks after giving birth.

Shannon Sime, died shortly after the delivery of her first child after the 29-year-old suffered a stroke earlier this month, leaving her young family heartbroken. Living on the Gold Coast of Australia with her husband, Scott, the 29-year-old has been described as someone who "made the world a better place", after the news of her death broke on August 5.

Shannon, who had shown no previous signs of being ill, was rushed to hospital and passed away just three days later. Six weeks earlier the young couple had just celebrated the birth of their daughter Harlow. Following the devastating news loved ones have taken to social media to pay tribute to the tragic mum.

In an emotional tribute to his late wife on Facebook, Scott said: "I genuinely don't even know where to begin writing this. Last Friday morning, Shannon was rushed into hospital. Unfortunately, from there she gained her angel wings.

"Shannon is the most amazing person I've ever met, she's my best friend as well as my wife and the mother of our beautiful daughter.

"She's made this world a much better place and it comforts me in knowing how many positive impacts she's had on people's lives from every corner of the globe.

"I'm in awe of all the amazing things we've been able to do together and how even after everything she's been through was still able to find the strength to live every moment like it was her last and be as selfless as she is.

"I'm eternally grateful that you chose to 'do life' with me darling. I promise I'll take care of Harlow and give her the life you wanted for her. I love you so much darling. Forever 29."

The hairdresser, who had a "heart of gold" ensured her organs were donated, potentially saving the lives of five people.

She has been described as a "selfless" individual who spent her Christmases feeding the homeless and cutting hair for domestic abuse survivors.

Shannon's sister, Abbie Watson, also made a heartfelt tribute to Facebook, as she wrote: "I am the proudest sister in the world.

"Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Shannon knows she really did have a heart of gold. She loved her life and her family more than anyone I know.

"I've been thinking a lot over the last few days of your life and about us and just how privileged I am to have been a part of it. I can't thank Scott enough for looking after Shannon and I know she left this world the most loved partner and Mum on earth. I love you so much too.

"I can't wait to meet Harlow and share the rest of my life loving her and doing all the things you loved. Every time I look at her I see you too. She really is just perfect.

"Everyone I have ever spoken to always said Shannon looked like she was living the dream and she really was and I hope everyone takes something from that.

"Hold your loved ones close, love hard, be selfless, be kind, do what makes you happy. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to the family over this time. We really do appreciate it. I really do just love you so much and I'll carry that with me forever. Thank you for being my sister and my best friend."

The tributes have now collected more than 1,000 likes with more than 500 comments from social media users who were heartbroken to hear the news. Declan Kavanagh said: "So sorry for your terrible loss Scott. Words fail me at this horrible time. Thinking of you and your family."

Sally Phillips said: "Heartbreaking, thoughts are with you and your family. She was so proud to be your wife and mummy to Harlow. The world has lost a true gem."

Jess Hill said: "Aw Scott, I'm so sorry, I can't believe what I'm reading. Sending so much love to you, baby Harlow and both your families."

Harry McGregor said: "So sorry to hear this shocking news Scott - thoughts are with you at this heartbreaking moment in time, stay strong and I'm always here."

A GoFundMe was set up by the families' loved ones to help Scott in the coming weeks and months which has now raised over £16,000. To donate, click here
