Middleton Road in Leeds shut after car ploughs through fence and driver flees from scene

A road in Leeds has been closed as police deal with the aftermath of a car crash.

Middleton Road in Belle Isle, Leeds, has been shut since just after 8am today (July 10). There, West Yorkshire Police say a car had crashed into a fence.

According to the police, the car was "seriously" damaged and the driver had fled the scene. A man has now been arrested and taken to hospital.

The road remains closed and a diversion is in place for the 86 bus service.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called shortly after 8am this morning (Monday, 10 July) to a report of a vehicle in collision with a fence on Middleton Road, Leeds.

"The vehicle was seriously damaged in the collision and the driver was reported to have left the scene. A male has been arrested and taken to hospital."
